Betlynda YoungBirthplace:
Honolulu, Hawai‘i

Education:
Bachelor of Education and Master of Education (Language Arts) from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa.

Teaching is a most noble profession; one that I have had the privilege to share in with my students at Star of the Sea. It is a profession that allows us to share in the perpetuation of knowledge in the lessons and values of life. With God as the focus of my classes in all subject areas, my students learn to appreciate the gifts of life and to treat each other with respect.

Language and science are areas that I enjoy working with my students in researching, experimenting, evaluating and writing papers. These skills enable them to become productive, thinking students, not only for the present, but also for the future. After their discoveries and work with me, they are able to:

  • collect data and information for their researching areas
  • summarize information
  • take notes on note cards
  • formulate first draft research papers
  • write bibliographies
  • use PowerPoint as a means to present their research findings
  • edit their papers with peer and parent help
  • write a research paper
  • present a finished product to their peers

Nurture little people … grow big dreams.
