The 3rd graders are holding up their batik. They drew sea creatures in glue on fabric. Once dry they painted the fabric. After that dried they soaked the fabric and picked off the glue lines to reveal the white fabric underneath which outlined their sea creatures. These will be turned into reading pillows over the next few weeks. What they are holding up are the front panels of their pillows. The pillows are a 3rd grade tradition. We decided to batik them this year. The students loved the process because the final result did not reveal itself until after the glue was removed.
