On May 5th, 2011, the boys and girls of Grades 4 and 5 celebrated Tango-no-Sekku Festival, the festival for Boys’ Day and Children’s Day. They flew kites, invited their parents to fly kites with them, and enjoyed snacks that all children enjoy.
There were about 75 students on the Star of the Sea playground field in the afternoon just enjoying being happy children in our beautiful state of Hawai‘i. In this time of recent current events, it was heartwarming to see children sharing the joy of being students at Star of the Sea.
From their discussions in class for science, they learned that the Boys’ Day/Children’s Day festival encouraged them to be strong and have determination to overcome all obstacles in life. In Star of the Sea School, we encourage them to attain high educational goals.
