The National Spelling Bee is the nation’s largest and longest-running educational promotion. The purpose of the spelling bee is to help students improve their spelling, increase their vocabularies, learn concepts, and develop correct English usage that will help them all their lives. On Monday, November 23rd, 2015, Star of the Sea School held its annual Spelling Bee contest led by advisors Lydia Green and Courtney Woodward. They had 19 contestants competing ranging from 5th grade thru 8th grade. Fifth grader Yuko Nagakura received First Place and 8th grader Rina Robin received Second Place. They will now represent the school at the District competition in January. Congratulations to all of the participants!
